This screen appears when you use "Student Loans" (F13) on the Account Information Update screen for a student loan account.
This screen contains the fields necessary to place a student loan into deferment, or change the deferment start and end dates. When done, use Enter to save changes.

Student loan category |
This field can be used for any purpose to categorize the loan; however, one common use is to assign different numeric codes to represent “deferment” versus “forbearance.” These codes can then be used when compiling a custom report or inquiry to view student loan status. |

Government reimbursement ID |
This field is not used. |
|
Government interest pay/interim |
If this field reads “000,” the interest for this loan will accrue to the member. If deferment dates have been entered to show the time frame in which this loan will be in deferment, this field must read “100” to indicate that the loan is in deferment and to accrue all interest to the government. |

Government interest pay/repay |
This field is not used. |

Date defer starts |
Enter the date (mmddyy) on which the loan should be placed in deferment.
|

Date defer ends |
Enter the date (mmddyy) on which the deferment period ends. Once this date has passed, the system will automatically begin accruing interest to the member again.
