Automated Non-Returns - Overview

Automated Non-Returns is the CU*BASE answer to what has been coined as the “Courtesy Pay” program, where savings or checking accounts are taken negative in the posting of electronic debits (share drafts, ACH, debit cards), as well as withdrawals at the teller line, for a fee.

Similar to the existing non-return or “force pay” feature available in share draft exception processing, the Auto Non-Return (ANR) feature allows your credit union to configure a program where member balances can automatically be processed to a negative amount, saving members the embarrassment and hassle of returned checks, with corresponding fees that offset credit union costs and increase the return for your share draft programs.

For complete details on how to configure, implement and monitor a courtesy pay program for your credit union, including special negative balance notices, refer to the Automated Non-Returns booklet.
