Assigning Authority for Custom Reports (Queries) and Files

When creating a custom report or database file using the CU*BASE Report Builder (Query), you must select the Authority that will be assigned to the report definition or file. The authority designation controls who can access the report or file, and what they are allowed to do with it:

Authority Options

*LIBCRTAUT

This means to use the same authority that is attached to the library in which the query or file will be stored. THIS SETTING IS NOT RECOMMENDED because currently available libraries for storing queries do not carry a default authority that supports modifying and deleting the query, or replacing the file.

*CHANGE

Others will be allowed to use the query (view and run) or file (view and replace), but it cannot be changed, deleted, or copied except by the original owner. THIS SETTING IS NOT RECOMMENDED.

*ALL

Anyone can use, modify, delete, copy, or run the query or file.

This is the recommended setting for CU*BASE credit union staff as well as data center Client Service Representatives. This allows a custom query or database table (file) that is created by Client Services to be made available to a credit union.

  • Keep in mind that if the report definition or file is stored in the credit union's QUERYxx library, no other credit union will be able to access it, even with this authority designation.

*EXCLUDE

All functions are restricted - No one except the original owner will be able to have any access to the query or file. DO NOT USE THIS SETTING.

*USE

Others will be allowed to use the query (view and run) or use the file (view only), but it cannot be changed, deleted, replaced, or copied except by the original owner. THIS SETTING IS NOT RECOMMENDED.
