Procedures for Monthly Credit Bureau Reporting
This explains how to send member loan account status information to the credit bureau(s) on a monthly basis. This must be done once a month (or once a quarter, depending on your arrangement with the bureau(s)), and can be done any time after the 1st of the month. (CU*Answers does this for its online credit unions during the first week of each month.)
Before transmitting files for the first time, you will need to set up your credit bureau configuration. Click here to learn more.
-
Start by using Tool #5058 Create Metro 2 File to generate the Metro 2 file of your member accounts.
-
Download the file CBTRPT01 from your FILExx library (where xx is your credit union ID) to a secure PC*. SEE ALSO: Downloading files from iSeries to PC
-
Transmit the file to the credit bureau(s). Contact your chosen bureaus for instructions on how to access the appropriate secure websites, set up user IDs and passwords, etc. Then upload the file (per the bureau instructions) from the PC to the website.
-
To print a report of all accounts included in the file, use Tool #5031 List Metro 2 File or Tool #658 in CU*BASE. Click here for more information.
How does the Metro 2 program currently report credit limits to the bureaus?
*Remember that this file contains member information; be sure you have a procedure for securing the PC and purging the file as appropriate!
