Close a Sub-Account

These steps explain how to close a member's sub-account such as a checking account.

  • Prior to closing the sub-account, you must ensure it is at a zero balance. To do this, you may need to post dividends. Learn how to post dividends to a share sub-account.

  • After you complete the steps below, the sub-account will be permanently closed after end-of-day processing.

  1. Launch Tool #22 Close Memberships/Accounts.

  2. Place a '1' beside Close accounts.

    • Depending on the member's enrollments, you may need to perform additional actions such as closing the member's overdraft protection.

  3. Click the forward arrow.

  4. Enter the member's account base and suffix.

  5. Click the lookup button beside the Reason code box to select a reason for closing the account.

  6. Click the forward arrow.

  7. Click Close.

  8. Click Continue to confirm.
