Configure Loan Classification Code for TDR Loans and PCILs

These steps explain how to configure loan classification codes for troubled-debt restructured (TDR) loans and purchased credit-impaired loans (PCILs).

  • This assists in the completion of the 5300 Call Report.

  1. Launch Tool #459 Loan Classification Code Configuration.

  2. Enter a user-defined code of up to three digits/characters in the Loan classification code field on the first Configure Classification Codes pop-up.

    • If your credit union puts TDR loans in non-accrual status, then a unique set of classification codes can be used for these loans. This may help with reporting on the 5300 Call Report.

    • The "XX" in some descriptions represents the year. Since the Call Report asks for year-to-date information on TDR loans, a new classification code is assigned every year. For example, 200=TDR First Mortgage 2013, 201-TDR First Mortgage 2014, 202=TDR First Mortgage 2015, etc.

    • View a list of recommended loan classification codes.

  3. Click the forward arrow.

  4. Enter an appropriate description that corresponds to NCUA codes in the Description field on the second Configure Classification Codes pop-up.

  5. Leave the rate in the Reserve field at 0.

  6. Click the forward arrow.
