Redeem Savings Bond as Outside Check

These steps explain how to redeem a savings bond by treating it as an outside check.

• Prior to following these steps, do the following:

• Obtain the savings bond value by visiting treasurydirect.gov/BC/SBCPrice.

• Print the bond valuation page.

• Activate your teller drawer.

• If your credit union redeems savings bonds for non-members, process the redemption by clicking the Non-Member Services button on the Teller Processing entry screen.

• After performing the steps below, be sure to update the savings bond information.

1. Deposit the check in a single entry.

2. Do one of the following depending on the member's preference:

   • If the member would like cash back, click the Refresh Cash Back button or click the forward arrow to confirm that the Cash back field is correct. Then click Post.  

   • If the member would like to deposit to the same account, use the deposit fields available to complete the transaction.

   • If the member would like to deposit to another membership, click Bal Fwd/New Mbr and continue to the next membership.
