Dashboard Tips – Questions to Ask When Comparing a Dashboard with Another Dashboard or Report

Screen Overview

Use the entry screen of the dashboard to ensure your workstations (ones that have been logged into) are all running the most recent version of GOLD.  The real power of this dashboard, however, is the asset inventory that is found using Hardware (F15).  Use this second screen to view hardware and software statistics of your workstations, including their operating system, processing speed, and available memory.

From the main GOLD Release Inquiry screen, you can view release version employee workstations are equipped with, including LegaSuite Client, GOLD, ProDOC, and Microsoft Excel, as well as the date employees last signed onto their workstation.

Using the GOLD Release Inquiry

This screen shows records created by the GOLD Release Monitoring System for all of the workstations at your credit union that have been logged in to CU*BASE GOLD.  All columns are sortable; just click on the header row.

Every time a workstation is used to log in to CU*BASE, the record for that workstation will be updated to show a new date. (The file will grow larger only as you add new workstations to your network; after a workstation is logged in once the same record is simply updated each time it logs in again.)

At the top of the screen you will see the current release levels of both the LegaSuite Client software (this is the “engine” that runs GOLD) as well as the CU*BASE GOLD software itself.

Any workstations where the entry in the LegaSuiteClientand CU*BASE GOLD columns do not match the versions shown at the top of the screen must be investigated and updated BEFORE the next GOLD upgrade is released.

To sort the list, simply click the Sort button located at the top of the column by which you would like the list sorted. For example, to check all of the workstations at a certain branch, click the Sort button at the top of the Workstation column (or press F13). Or to see workstations that haven't logged in recently, sort by the Last Signed On column.

  • Occasionally you may have a workstation that is no longer used and will therefore never be updated again. To keep this list clean, you may select that record and click Delete Log Entry to clear the record from the file (this does not affect any configuration for the workstation itself, just the GOLD release monitoring file). If that workstation ID is ever used again in the future, a new record will be created automatically.

To see more information about the workstation itself, including operating system, processor speed, memory, and free disk space, use Hardware (F15).

Understanding the GOLD Release Monitoring System

Whenever a workstation is logged in to CU*BASE, a “behind the scenes” program automatically runs to verify the version of the software that is used to run CU*BASE GOLD on that workstation. A comparison is done between the PC's settings and the “current” release levels being used system-wide.

If there was a problem somewhere along the way and the workstation did not receive the GOLD update as it should, a warning message will appear explaining the discrepancy and alerting the user to contact their credit union's system administrator for instructions. The user must press F3 in order to complete the sign-on procedure. Work can continue, but screens may not behave as expected since the GOLD software is out of synch with the host system.

A record showing the results of this comparison will be stored in a file in a central location. This screen is an inquiry of all the records in that file for your credit union.
