Using "Pct" for Net Change Ratios

The Pct field can also be used to calculate a ratio between two columns on a report. Using the Pct field in the column you wish to divide by, enter the column number to be divided into. The system will take the difference between the two columns and divide by the column you are in.

For example, if you are working in column 1, and want to know the net change ratio between this column and column 2, enter “2” in the Pct field for column 1. The calculation will be as follows:

(Column 2 - Column 1) ÷ Column 1

On the printed report, the heading “2-1/1” will appear to explain the calculation. Be sure to check the heading to make sure the correct field was used. A common mistake is to use the Pct field on the wrong column. This will show up in the heading (e.g., “2-1/2”) as being divided by the wrong column.

IMPORTANT: The figures generated by this field will only appear on printed reports, not inquiry screens.

In the following example, column 1 will show current month figures (December 2001) and column 2 will show previous month figures (November). Between the columns you will see a percentage calculated as (Column 2 - Column 1) ÷ Column 1.
