Clear Corporate Check

These steps explain how to manually clear a check and perform a journal entry to correct the general ledger.

  • This needs to be done when a corporate check shows up as an exception on the Update Exceptions/Returns screen, accessible via Tool #986 CHECKS 1: Work Member Exception File.

  • After you complete the steps below, you'll need to create and post the journal entry. When you do this, debit the outstanding checks G/L and credit the share draft suspense G/L (always 870.02) for the amount of the check.

  • Once you've created and posted the journal entry, the last step is to mark the draft exception to be deleted.

  1. Launch Tool #324 CU Check/Bank Reconciliation.

  2. Select Update status for individual checks.

  3. Leave the Operation field at Cleared.

  4. Leave the Date field at today's date.

  5. Enter the check number to be cleared in the Check # field.

  6. Click the forward arrow.

  7. Verify that the check and amount are correct in the box below.

  8. Select Generate J/E.
