Screen Overview
The CU*BASE Auto Security feature is designed to save time and keystrokes for credit union staff. In a nutshell, when Auto Security is activated, the Employee ID and password are entered automatically whenever a tool is selected on the Home Page. Access to tools is still controlled by the security settings attached to that ID; the user simply doesn't have to type it over and over again.
Activating Auto Security

If you access this screen when activating auto security, this screen becomes a confirmation screen for activation. Use Enter. From this point on, whenever you choose a CU*BASE tool, the system will automatically “enter” that same employee ID and password for you to determine whether or not you have access the tool. You will not be required to enter your employee ID and password again except when performing certain special buttons from within other CU*BASE screens (like the Name/Address (F14) function in Inquiry or the Unpost Batch (F14) buttons in G/L posting, etc.).
Deactivating Auto Security
If you access this screen when deactivating auto security, this screen becomes a confirmation screen for deactivation. Use Enter. From now on you will need to enter your Employee ID and password manually every time a tool is selected from the Home Page. You can reactivate auto security from the Home Page by clicking the pencil next to the indicator at the bottom of the screen.
Deactivating Auto Security for All or Certain Employees
You can elect as a credit union to deactivate auto security for all employees, or for select employees in the Employee Security Settings.
Remember that regardless of whether auto security is activated or not, CU*BASE still checks against access privileges to be sure the employee has access to a tool when they select it. When auto security is activated, it simply does not require the employee to enter their employee ID and password each time they select a tool.

Purging G/L Files and Check History Files
This section does not relate to account security. It is on this topic because the same screen is used for a different purpose from other access points.
Because the General Ledger files sometimes retain an OBJECT LOCK until the CU*BASE sign-off is performed, we recommend that everyone signs off of CU*BASE before this purge is processed.
Use the iSeries command to COPY the file you are going to purge to provide a backup file in QUERYxx. For example GLHIST can be named GLHIST2 . This way you have the option to copy back this file without losing any G/L data. Once the purge is completed successfully and verified, the copied file can be deleted.
If you are accessing this screen while purging general ledger or check history files, you can answer "Yes" to this question to run the purge between BOD and EOD. Enter a "Y" and press Enter. This will take you to one of the purge screens (GLHIST, GLBALA and CHKMS).
