Move a Non-Member's SSN to a Membership

These steps explain how to remove a Social Security number from a non-member record and add to a member’s account instead.

  • The steps below lay out the process to find and remove any current relationships the member’s SSN has with other accounts or pending loan requests, remove the non-member record attached to the desired SSN, change the member’s SSN, and recreate the membership’s previous relationships using the membership’s new SSN.

  • Before changing a membership’s SSN, all the relationship links to other accounts/pending applications will need to be removed. To change the membership’s SSN to an SSN associated with a non-member record, you will need to delete the non-member record first, or the system won’t allow the change. After changing the SSN, you must recreate the membership’s relationship links using the new SSN.

  • Follow the links below for detailed directions to complete the step.

  1. Find any additional signer relationships and joint owner/beneficiary relationships the original member SSN has with existing accounts.

  2. Remove the additional signer relationship links the membership's SSN has with existing loans accounts.

    • Repeat for all additional signer relationships with existing loans noted.

  3. Remove the joint/misc. owner or beneficiary relationships the membership's SSN has with other accounts.

    • Repeat for all joint/misc. owner or beneficiary relationships noted.

  4. Build a query using the ADSA (Additional Signers Application) file to find any pending loan applications where the membership’s original SSN is an additional signer.

    • Reach out to Asterisk Intelligence for assistance with creating the custom query.

    • Note the account base, application number, and associated relationship types (co-applicant/guarantor/spouse) for records of that additional signer SSN on applications.

  5. Remove the additional signer relationship links the membership’s SSN has with pending loan requests.

    • Repeat for all additional signer relationships with pending loan requests noted.

  6. Delete the non-member record.

    • Before the non-member SSN can be associated with a membership, the SSN’s non-member record must be deleted.

  7. Update the member’s current SSN to the desired new SSN.

  8. Recreate the membership's additional signer relationships with existing loans using the new SSN.

    • For step 7, select the appropriate relationship type originally noted.

    • Repeat for all additional signer relationships with existing loans to recreate.

  9. Recreate the membership’s additional signer relationships with pending loan requests using the new SSN.

    • Repeat for all additional signer relationships with pending loan requests to recreate.

  10. Recreate the membership's joint/misc. owner and beneficiary relationships using the new SSN.

    • For step 11, select the Relationship type originally noted.

    • Repeat for all joint/misc. owner and beneficiary relationships to recreate.
