Screen Overview

This screen is the gateway to move to the Verify Member screen and subsequently the Main Teller Posting Screen.

  • A “Privacy controls are on” box will also appear in the upper right hand corner if Privacy Controls are on for the user (see privacy configuration.) This box will indicate if the user is configured for masking (asterisks may appear on this screen and the screens that follow, configured for questions (either code word or out of the wallet), as well as the workstation configuration.

  • Activate your teller drawer from this screen by selecting Drawer Control/Audit (F24). Click for details on activating a teller. (You can also use this function key to close your teller drawer.)

  • If you would like to enter a secondary transaction description for a transaction already posted, use Transaction Desc (F11) to access the software used to change add the description. You will be asked to enter an account number, select a suffix, and then the transaction.

  • CLR Path (Character Lending on Reputation) is a free tool that lets you evaluate the strength of your relationship with a member based on data in CU*BASE (such as length of membership and number of delinquencies), giving you tools without the need to pull (or pay for) a credit score. Get a new CLR Path score or see an existing one by clicking the following buttons: Get Advice and See Advice. If the feature is not activated, you can access the CU*Answers store to sign up. Currently Serving (Assisting the Person In Front of You)

You can use the Process Code Funds in/Serving Another Owner to use the Currently Serving Feature. This allows you to assist the person in front of you. The next screen will allow you to select this person from a list of people who associated with the account (excluding beneficiaries or Secondary Names designated as a Misc. Owner.) When you move to the Main Teller Posting screen, the screen will indicate to which accounts the person is associated. (Asterisks and the lack of withdrawal screens indicate that the person does not have access. Learn more about Currently Serving. (Much more information about this feature is available on this topic.)

Using this Screen

This screen is the first of several used for member deposits, withdrawals and other transactions. You must be activated as a teller before you can begin using this screen to process transactions.

  1. Start by entering your Employee ID and password.  If Name ID is activated, you will need to enter the Name ID of the member.  Learn more about Name ID configuration.

    • If your credit union offers teller services to non-members, click Non-Member Svcs (F13). Click here for information on how to proceed.

    • If your credit union participates in shared branching with other credit unions, enter the credit union ID of the person you are servicing. (Or use the lookup images\magnifyingglasslookup_shg.gif to move to this screen where you can easily search for the two letter code.)

  2. Next, enter the member's base account number and choose a Process Code to specify which screen should be displayed next. (See “Field Descriptions” below for a description of each code.)  Use Enter when ready to proceed.

    • IMPORTANT: If using either the “Check” or “Money Order” Process Code, you must enter an account suffix into the Account type field. This specifies the account from which funds should be withdrawn to create the check or money order.

    • For added security: If you select Money Order, Check or Miscellaneous Advance, a Verify Member screen (similar to the one you get when you select to move to the Main Teller Posting screen) will appear upon Enter that will allow you to verify the identity of the member.

Searching for an Account

Learn more about using the search fields (also used on the Global Search screen)

To look for an account, enter a name or other criteria using the Search Criteria fields, then use Enter to look for items that match. Once the search list appears, you may select the account and use Enter or Select, or type the account number (be sure to clear any remaining search criteria) and use Enter to proceed. (The required digits for the SSN is configured in your credit union privacy configuration.)

  • When a name is entered, accounts will be displayed in alphabetical order. When a number is entered, such as a credit card number, the accounts display in numerical order.

  • When a name is entered, accounts will be displayed in alphabetical (or numerical) order. If you select "Show only accounts for this SSN/TIN," you will change to an SSN search and view only accounts where a person associated with this account (including misc. owners and beneficiaries) has that SSN/TIN. Selecting "Show only accounts where this SSN/TIN is primary" also changes the search to an SSN search and limits the selection further to accounts where the Primary on the account has this SSN.

  • You can block people outside of your credit union from using these search fields to find a member through your Shared Branch configuration and require that the entire account number be entered instead. See also Privacy Controls. If “require full account # to access accounts” is checked on the Shared Branching configuration screen for a credit union, and the member is being serviced at by a shared branching teller accessing the screen, these fields will appear but will be disabled. Entering data in these fields will result in an error message asking for the exact account number.

  • If an account is highlighted, this means that is may require special handling. Delinquent accounts are highlighted. Additionally, your credit union can select to highlight other negative balance accounts and base share accounts below par through the configuration settings on the Teller/Member Services Workflow Controls.

Go Back to a Previously-Used Account

If you want to access a membership you used recently, enter your employee ID and password, then click the lookup next to the Account # field. The Your Most Recent Accounts Accessed pop-up window will appear.

Optional Fraud Detection Warning

CU*BASE has an optional feature that can be activated if your credit union wishes to implement procedures to address risk-management and fraud detection concerns.  This can be activated on the Teller/Member Service Workflow Controls.

When activated, this flag will alert tellers when members perform transactions through either teller posting, ATM, CU*TALK or It's Me 247 online banking more than once during the day. This would provide an alert, for example, if a member attempts to deposit a bad check at one branch then withdraw the funds at a different branch the same day before it has a chance to clear.

After the member number has been entered, you may see the following message appear at the bottom of the screen:

1418-WARNING: Member has transactions today. Press enter to continue.

This indicates that a member has completed any transactions through teller posting, ATM/debit, audio response or online banking during that same day that have hit the member's account.  (This teller warning message does not review cash-only transaction, for example, in the audit key files.)  Follow your credit union's standard procedures for handling these situations. You may need to perform an inquiry into the member's account to review the previous transactions, or contact a supervisor or head teller for assistance.
